Electric Vehicles Available on the Minnesota State Contract

Local government units (LGUs) and nonprofits in Minnesota can purchase electric, hybrid, and internal combustion vehicles through the state’s master contract for Current Year Automobiles. Pickups, specialty vehicles, and law enforcement vehicles are available on separate contracts.  As described on the state’s Cooperative Purchase Venture website, this program “leverages economies of scale that very often result in lower pricing and better terms and conditions” (more detailed information here).

For LGUs and nonprofits to use the state master contracts, they must first register as a Cooperative Purchasing Venture (CPV) member. Membership is free and the sign-up process is easy. Just contact the Office of State Procurement and fill out a short form. First, you may want to check to see if your organization is already a CPV member.

Once your agency or organization is registered as a CPV member, you can review the Current Year Automobile contract and identify the vehicle make, model, and configuration you want. The best part about using the state master contract is that prices are already bid and negotiated. You may also want to look through other procurement channels, such as Sourcewell, to find the option that best suits your needs.

• Chevy Bolt EUV (small SUV)
• Nissan Leaf
• Nissan Leaf extended range
• Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Electric
