Mill City Quarter Apartments Electric Carshare Hub Launch

Come join the launch of the newest all-electric carshare hub at Mill City Quarter Apartments (322 S 2nd St, Minneapolis, 55401) on November 21 from 1-2 pm. The new electric hub is part of the Multifamily Electric Vehicle Carshare Pilot Project. Focused on affordable housing sites, the Multifamily Project provides clean, affordable transportation options to communities around the Twin Cities. Through this project, HOURCAR is increasing electric vehicle access to underserved communities.

As the largest initiative of its type in the United States, by 2026, the Multifamily Project will:
• Provide 50 electric vehicles
• Be located at 25 sites around the Twin Cities
• Serve a growing membership base of over 10,000 members

Current all-electric carshare sites are located in Minneapolis, Saint Paul, Little Canada, Bloomington, Richfield, and St.
Louis Park. Upcoming sites will be located in Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and Hopkins.

The event will be located at the back of the Mill City Quarter Apartments in the retail parking area by the chargers. In the case of inclement weather, it will be inside the retail lobby.

Transportation options to the Mill City Quarter Apartments Electric Carshare Hub Launch include:

• Driving an Evie carshare vehicle and parking for free at a meter
• Riding a bike
• Walking over
• Taking Metro Transit
• Using metered parking located in front of and around the building.

The Multifamily Project is a partnership between HOURCAR and Xcel Energy. Funding for the installation of the charging infrastructure was approved by the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission in September 2023. Additional support for the project was provided by the US Department of Energy, GM Corporate Giving, the McKnight Foundation, 3M, the Regional Solicitation of the Metropolitan Council, and the American Lung Association.

The Multifamily Project is currently accepting applications for its final phase in 2025. All multi-unit dwelling units are welcome to apply, with special encouragement sites that provide at least 66% of available units for low-income households, as they may be eligible to receive a Level 2 dual-port charger, installation, and two electric carshare vehicles at no/minimal cost during the contracted pilot period. The final round of applications is open at HOURCAR.org/Multifamily.
